Intersect Systems Inc. Announces Publication of
Clark's Encyclopedia of Records Retention

Dallas, Texas -- April 3, 2002   Intersect Systems Inc., a Texas-based developer of software for retention schedule development and records management, today announced the publication of Clark's Encyclopedia of Records Retention in digital format.

The
Encyclopedia will be published on CD-ROM  for use with Intersect Systems' Retention Developer / Manager / Researcher (Retention DMR) and Retention Viewer / Researcher (Retention VR) software on Windowsä-based personal computer systems.

The
Encyclopedia of Records Retention covers about 95% of the business records created and used by businesses and other organizations in the United States.

The
Encyclopedia of Records Retention includes over 4,000 records titles and related descriptive information and retention recommendations.  As a retention research tool for Records Managers when used with the search and query capabilities of Intersect's Retention VR software, and as a retention schedule development and publishing system when used with Intersect's Retention DMR software, the Encyclopedia will serve as a valuable resource for all types of business organizations.

Intersect's
Retention VR software allows viewer access to the Encyclopedia.  The user can use a Search function and a flexible, easy-to-use Query function to locate key words and phrases in the retention items and associated descriptions, making the Retention VR system with the Encyclopedia a convenient, extensive, and easy-to-use electronic reference for Records Managers and any one wishing to research retention recommendations.

Intersect's
Retention DMR software includes the reference functions of Retention VR, but also supports easy development of a Retention Control Schedule for an organization.  The Records Manager identifies records series titles in the comprehensive resource that apply to an organization using Retention DMR's Find and Query functions.  Each title can then be added to the local Control Schedule with a simple point-and-click operation.  Each record series title and related descriptive information can be revised as necessary, and in the uncommon event that a category of records is needed that is not listed in the Encyclopedia, a record series editor makes it easy to create entries for new records titles.

Once a master Retention Control Schedule is developed for an organization, a unique and popular feature allows the Records Manager to create sub-schedules for each department or division within an organization, again with convenient point-and-click operations.  The development of sub-schedules for different departments and divisions allows the Records Manager to provide each department or division head with a short, concise schedule consisting of only the records series titles for which that division or department is responsible, instead of distributing copies of the complete Retention Control Schedule, which can to two hundred or more pages for larger organizations.  This can be a key element in helping make a Records Management Program user-friendly and encouraging participation by all managers.

Records control schedules and sub-schedules can be published in print, or published over a Local- or Wide Area Network.  Another output options allows the user to generate an output file for use in publishing schedules on a company's intranet or the Internet.
